Lucid Recess announces new album ‘Engraved Invitation’
Lucid Recess will be releasing their new album ‘Engraved Invitation’ on 26th April 2010. The album will have 12 songs including previously released singles ‘Can’t Help Me’ and ‘Socially Active Warrior’. For the first time, the band has also recorded a piano based song ‘Calling’ for this album. The album is recorded at Lucid Recess Studios, Guwahati and is produced by Siddharth Barooa. It is supported by Grey and Saurian and RSJ.
Lucid Recess is an Alternative Metal/Hard Rock band from Guwahati, Assam, India. Their 7 song EP ‘Carved’ was released in Dec 2007 and was the CD of the month in the June 2009 issue of RSJ. The song “Painstaking Obsession’ from the EP was featured in the GIR XII compilation. The EP is now available for free download at their website: www.lucidrecess.com

The Kingfisher Pub Rock fest is back with a bang this year. With over 70 gigs, spread over 19 cities, this year’s festival promises to be even bigger than last year’s extravaganza.
The Kingfisher Pub Rock fest aims at providing a platform for smaller artists to rub shoulders with the more established and prominent members of the music industry. The festival is in its 5th year and looks at growing at an even faster rate. The festival also brings live music to various pubs across the country in an effort to promote pub and music culture all across the country. Featuring renowned luminaries such as Soulmate, Scribe, HFT, Amit Heri, Indigo children and other well known acts, the Kingfisher Pub rock fest aims at bringing quality music to the masses.
Spirits are high and the overall mood is anticipatory as the festival starts on the 1st of August with the Galeej Gurus performing at Mocha Bar, Nehru Place.

Lucid Recess gets selected in Channel V Launchpad BUT..
We were among the 20 bands selected for Channel V Launchpad Season 3 but we were unable to participate due to unavoidable circumstances. This was a great oppurtunity for us to take our music to a wider audience but it was just not meant to be. We hope that we get more such oppurtunities in the future.
"[v] Launchpad is not just a talent hunt but a grueling training camp for the freshest sounding Indian bands. This season the final 7 bands fight it out, living in one big mad house and trained by none other than the true rock star, the relentless Vishal Dadlani.
The winners get their photo on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, cut an album, win a record label deal and shoot a music video with Channel [v]. The best three bands also get to perform LIVE at a grand concert!"

The Story (Abstract): Our song is about addictions and trying to come out clean. In the video, John is a crack/drug addict who is forced to confront his demons and decide to live life as an addict or to free himself off his addiction.

Lucid Recess selected for The Great Indian Rock XII.
Show in Shillong on 5th Nov 08.
We are among the 15 bands selected for GIR this year from over 180 bands all over India. We are the first band from Assam to get selected. Our song 'Painstaking Obsession' got selected which will be included in the GIR compilation.
"The Great Indian Rock Festival started in 1995 and its inaugural show was held in Delhi at the Hamsadhwani Open Air Theater, Pragati Maidan, it featured some of the biggest names today ranging from Parikrama, Orange Street, and Indian Ocean. Over the years GIR became a platform for Indian bands to showcase their skills and talent and a variety of bands participated have gone on to become some of the most well known names in the country and abroad. The festival's primary home as been Delhi with an occasional foray into Mumbai.
The main aim of The Great Indian Rock was to offer a platform for musicians to express themselves. It slowly steered the scene away from playing covers and encouraged artists to write and perform their own music. The Great India Rock has been integral in the explosion of innovative and original music in India.
Many big bands today have credited The Great Indian Rock for their success. It has changed the way people look at Rock music in India. Bands have benefited from the exposure and that added push to play their own music which has also opened up new and exciting avenues in the realm of Indian Rock music.
This year the festival goes national with Big Gig's in seven major cities, namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and Shillong. This is huge step for the festival as it literally tours the country and reaches out to the masses. It's another foot forward for the Indian Rock scene and it brings in a level of planning and execution never before seen in the country."
Three international acts will be performing in The Great Indian Rock this year. -

The concept of Pubrockfest was initiated by Rock Street Journal in 2005, when a humble beginning was made with a 4 gig festival featuring 12 bands in Delhi. It marked the beginnings of a club rock culture in the Capital, which sustained beyond the festival.. Last year, Kingfisher Pubrockfest was taken to 7 cities and 30 gigs. This year, it is bigger than ever, going into 20 cities and 60 gigs over May, June and July.
